Audience evaluation of ‘ANBRAGT‘ for Teater Svalegangen and Børns Vilkår

Silverlining Research is conducting an audience evaluation to assess whether the play ‘ANBRAGT’ and the accompanying panel discussion succeed in creating insight and sparking debate about life in foster care.

Background

In the spring of 2024, Teatret Svalegangen and Børns Vilkår are collaborating to bring attention to the area of child placement, as former foster children stand out in the statistics. The goal is to break down taboos and create understanding of life in foster care.

Teatret Svalegangen presents the play ‘ANBRAGT’, which tells the story of a young woman looking back on her life as a foster child. The partnership includes invitations to selected target groups to watch ‘ANBRAGT’ and participate in thematic discussions following the performance.

Silverlining Research conduct an evaluation of the audience’s experience of both the play and the subsequent discussion.

Method

In order to evaluate the play ‘ANBRAGT’ and the accompanying panel debate, a questionnaire was sent out to approximately 200 people who attended the play. Of these, 69 respondents provided comprehensive answers to the questions. The questionnaire particularly emphasized that respondents should elaborate on their experience in their own words.

Results

Based on several elaborative comments in the questionnaire, valuable insights are gained regarding whether the play and panel debate fulfill the objectives associated with the project. These insights clarify whether the play ‘ANBRAGT’ succeeds in creating awareness and debate about the life of foster care and thus can contribute to breaking down taboos and prejudices. The insights also illuminate whether it succeeds in engaging relevant target audiences and highlighting the complexity of the issue.
