The People’s University House in Emdrup – Potential and Interest

Explore how The People’s University in Emdrup is shaping its future through new insights into the potential for a dedicated University House.

Background

Many of the rooms The People’s University in Emdrup has used to date will be unavailable in the coming years, as Aarhus University has moved out of the building. However, this has created the opportunity for The People’s University to purchase the building that they have been using for years.
In this way, they can establish a People’s University House, which can accommodate existing activities as well as open the door to new ones, including daytime teaching, which until now has only been possible to a limited extent.
The study explores the potential and the interest in this among both potential visitors as well as current participants of The People’s Universitie’s activities.

Method

Silverlining Research has conducted two rounds of data collection among potential participants through an online panel and among current participants via direct distribution. The questionnaire has examined the interest in and the potential for participation in daytime teaching. In addition, Silverlining Research has carried out a smaller desk research with a focus on describing the core target group of the People’s University and the development of this group.

Results

The People’s University has received a comprehensive report that has explored the potential of owning their own building. This report can be used particularly in connection with applications for foundation funding. Overall, the results have shown a positive attitude towards expanding the range of activities, including participation in daytime teaching.
