Feasibility study for Experimentarium
Background
In 2025, Silverlining Research has conducted a feasibility study for Experimentarium in Hellerup as part of their strategy ‘Vokseværket – a nationwide Experimenatrium’.
The study has aimed to provide a thorough assessment of the potential for establishing a new science and discovery center in Kalundborg. This has included examining the level of interest and attitudes toward the project among a broad range of target groups – including local residents, Danish and international tourists, as well as key stakeholders and potential partners.
Silverlining has addressed the task through a comprehensive research design that includes several components to create the clearest possible understanding of the project’s opportunities and challenges.
Method
Silverlining Research has applied a holistic approach that includes a thorough desk research that has clarified the market situation and formed the basis for estimating the expected number of visitors. To assess interest, Silverlining has conducted questionnaire surveys in the Kalundborg catchment area, the rest of Denmark, as well as in Sweden and Germany. In addition, a comprehensive stakeholder analysis has been carried out to gain insights into the actors’ experiences and assessments related to the establishment of the experience center.
Results
The analysis has provided clear and action-oriented recommendations that enables Experimentarium to identify the project’s potential and challenges. This creates a solid foundation for decisions on further development and makes it possible to make well-informed choices regarding finances, establishment, and organization.
