Mapping of the Need for Skilled Labour in Lolland Municipality

Explore how Lolland Municipality is addressing the shortage of skilled labour through local business insights, targeted recruitment, and international settlement initiatives.

Background

Lolland Municipality is experiencing rapid growth, and several major development projects, such as the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link between Denmark and Germany, are contributing to this development.
At the same time, unemployment is at a record low in Lolland Municipality. Several previous studies indicate that the shortage of skilled labour is a significant barrier to growth.
Against this background, Lolland Municipality wants a deeper insight into the recruitment needs of local businesses, as well as highlighting relevant solutions and initiatives that can support the municipality’s further work to alleviate the shortage of skilled labour. This includes efforts to support international recruitment and settlement.

Method

A multi-faceted research method consisting of an in-depth mapping of existing studies, a quantitative questionnaire survey among local companies in Lolland, in-depth interviews with selected key local companies and national expert sources together forms the data basis for the study.

Results

The study is still ongoing, but its purpose is to be communicated in a subsequent mobilisation effort that can encourage local decision-makers to properly address and act on the expected shortage of skilled labour.
